Closed cycle of water supply system

The closed cycle of water supply system ensures complete elimination of industrial waste water discharge to the Dnipro River.

The mill has been equipped with a unique water supply system. Engineering solutions, applied at the design phase of the electric steel-melting complex construction project, ensure the completely closed circulating water supply system of the mill, without any industrial waste water discharge to the Dnipro River and other ponds.

Two water supply systems have been provided for at the INTERPIPE STEEL mill:
• the “clean” circulating water supply cycle, intended for equipment cooling (all unpolluted water just gets heated, getting no other polluting substances);
• the “dirty” circulating water supply cycle, intended for direct metal cooling and the water wash of the scale – during these processes water is polluted with the scale and petroleum products and gets heated. Using water wash inlets and the gravity flow, all polluted waste waters come to the primary precipitation tank, located near the workshop. It is used for precipitation of the great bulk of coarse-grained scale and petroleum products. Using pumping stations, the clarified water is delivered from the precipitation tank to the water-cooling tower through sand filters for further brightening, and after cooling gets back for the reuse.
